Are teen drivers more likely to crash? Unfortunately, car accidents with a teen-driver at fault are not uncommon

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, teens between 16-19 are three times more likely to suffer a life-threatening crash than drivers who are 20 and older. Why is this the case? What can you do to stay safe with teen drivers on the road?

Why are teens more likely to get into an accident?

1. New to driving
2. Distracted driving
3. Drowsy driving
4. Intoxicated driving

How to stay safe when sharing the road with teen drivers

Give them space: If you are worried about an accident caused by a teen driver, it may be in your best interest to give them as much space as possible, just in case.

Report it: If you see a teen driving dangerously, perhaps they are drunk driving, reporting it to the police may be beneficial.

Sharing the road with inexperienced drivers can be worrying, but it does not have to be. Watch out for teens driving in a hazardous manner and report it if you need to.

Divorce Attorneys in Belleville IL

Too many people make the mistake of assuming a divorce has be a highly contentious process. However, plenty of people are able to dissolve their marriage amicably. They can work together and stay out of the courtroom, which can save time and money. They can also minimize the adverse emotional toll a divorce takes on themselves and their children. Here are a few important tips for how you can make this work.

Prioritize peaceful problem-solving

One of the most effective ways to make divorce less divisive is to stay out of court and make decisions together. This happens through alternative dispute resolution methods like mediation.

Focus on the big picture

Set your priorities from the beginning and then try to focus on the bigger picture: securing a fair and peaceful outcome that makes it easier to move forward.

Avoid antagonizing one another

Divorce can bring out some unflattering reactions and emotions. Rather than let these responses control your actions and the process, try to keep antagonistic behavior in check.

What constitutes a dangerous or a vicious dog in Illinois?

Dogs are known as man’s best friend. However, they can sometimes be man’s enemy as well.

According to the CDC and Prevention, an estimated 4.5 million dog bites occur each year in the United States. With almost 40 percent of American households owning one or more dogs, it is important for dog owners to understand their liability when it comes to dog bites.

Dangerous dog

Illinois provides specific provisions in the Animal Control Act as to what constitutes a dangerous dog, including:

-Any dog that “behaves in a manner that a reasonable person would believe poses a serious and unjustified imminent threat of serious physical injury or death to a person or a companion animal.”
-A dog that “without justification, bites a person and does not cause serious physical injury.”

Vicious Dog

Illinois dog laws state a dog can be found vicious if it is deemed dangerous at least three times, or it causes someone serious bodily injury or death. After a bite, an owner of a potentially vicious dog will receive written notice of the potential vicious determination and an investigation will lead to the final decision.

While these measures should protect people from dangerous or vicious dogs, incidents can still happen. If you suffer a dog bite, consider speaking with a Belleville IL personal injury attorney who has experience in dog bite lawsuits.
